Dangerous Winter Weather Predicted

The following advisory was sent to us by the Libertyville Fire Department.

January 25, 2019 - A winter weather advisory is in effect for Lake County.  There will be multiple and extended rounds of bitterly cold temperatures and possibly significant snowfall Sunday night into Monday.  Expect extreme cold temperatures beginning Tuesday night through Thursday. In addition, strong winds appear possible at times, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday.  Snow accumulations could be 6+ inches.

Please be prepared for these bitterly cold temperatures.  Bring your pets inside, check your furnace, carbon monoxide detector and if possible insulate exposed pipes.  Dress in layers and limit your time outdoors. Prepare for power outages. Use generators outside only and away from windows. Listen for emergency information and alerts. Watch for signs of hypothermia and frostbite. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly.

During extreme weather conditions power outages may occur. To report a power outage please contact ComEd at 1-800-334-7661 or go online to: https://secure.comed.com/Outages/CheckOutageStatus/Pages/EnrollOutage.aspx.
